Core PE (Non-Examined)
Our Core PE curriculum at KS4 delivers a world class learning experience. We aim to develop a love for physical activity and a comprehensive knowledge of health and fitness. Staying healthy and having the knowledge of how to stay healthy is a life skill that everyone needs. These lessons will be practical based, making use of our extensive facilities at Wath plus those of local physical activity providers in the local area
WHY STUDY CORE PE
Through the rich and varied curriculum in KS4 students will learn how to stay fit and healthy and possibly more importantly, why staying fit is essential to enjoying a full and rewarding life. You will also experience where you can access ways to stay fit in the local community, setting you up to be lifelong active, long after you leave Wath Academy
COURSE CONTENT
During Core PE lessons, students have more autonomy over the sport and activities they study. The students are given options and pathways around the three key areas in PE: Creativity, Games, and Health & Fitness. The students get to select a pathway that they will then explore for a half term. These activities will be done using the excellent Sport facilities at Wath Academy including the brand-new fitness suite, indoor climbing wall and 5G.Astro.
Alongside Core PE students can also choose to study either GCSE or BTEC Sport as part of their options choices. Further information can be obtained on the links below
