Families Invited to Discover the Next Chapter at Wath Academy Open Evening

Families across Rotherham are invited to discover the opportunities, experiences and achievements on offer at Wath Academy during its Year 5 and 6 Open Evening on Thursday 24 September 2026.
With a creative ‘Once Upon a Time at Wath Academy’ theme, the event promises an engaging introduction to the academy for prospective students and their families.
Visitors will have the opportunity to meet staff and students, explore the academy and discover why Wath Academy could be the perfect next chapter in their child's education. Families will learn more about the academy's vision, curriculum and transition process before taking part in a 45-minute guided tour led by members of the Senior Leadership Team.
As part of the evening, departments will bring learning to life through a unique literary and film-inspired experience featuring favourites such as Harry Potter, Peter Pan, The Wizard of Oz, Matilda and Alice in Wonderland. Each subject area will showcase both engaging activities and key academic information, helping families gain a full understanding of the opportunities available at the academy.
Andy Hopkin, Principal of Wath Academy, said:
"Choosing a secondary school is an important milestone for every family, and our Open Evening is a fantastic opportunity to experience everything Wath Academy has to offer. We are proud of our ambitious curriculum, strong community and commitment to helping every student flourish. We look forward to welcoming families into our academy and showing them the opportunities, support and outstanding education that enable our students to succeed."
Families can attend one of three presentations taking place at 4.30pm, 5.45pm or 7pm, before embarking on a guided tour of the academy. The event will also showcase the academy's strong academic offer and wider enrichment opportunities, as well as its commitment to supporting every student to achieve their full potential.
Wath Academy is part of Place Partnership Trust, a family of 12 academies across Doncaster, Rotherham and Wakefield, working together to provide exceptional educational opportunities and outcomes for young people across the region.
