    Ofsted & Exam Results

    Wath Academy seeks to enlarge and enrich the experiences of school students and of the wider community it serves. We have a key role to play in transforming educational aspiration in Rotherham and the Dearne Valley.

    Exam Results

    Our August 2019 GCSE results outlined below. Our historical results are available at the Department for Education School Performance Tables website, a link to that site is available further down this page. 

    Schools are not currently required by the Department for Education to publish their exam and assessment results from the 2019-2020 academic year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

    Key Stage 4 (GCSE) 2019

    Attainment 8: 44.65 (compared to 45.78 in 2018, 47.3 in 2017 and 44.98 in 2016)
    Progress 8: -0.14 (compared to -0.06 in 2018, +0.09 in 2017 and -0.02 in 2016)
    The English Baccalaureate (EBacc) is basically a performance measure that shows the proportion of children in a secondary school who achieve at least a Grade 4 or Grade 5 in core academic subjects. The EBacc is made up of 5 or more GCSE passes across all of the following subject pillars: maths, English, the sciences, history or geography and a language.
    46% of students were studying a range of subjects which meant they could potentially achieve the English Baccalaureate (EBacc).
    40% of students achieved a strong pass (grade 5 or above) in English and maths
    34% of students achieved the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) Grade 4 or higher
    25 % of students achieved the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) Grade 5 or higher

    Key Stage 5 (Sixth Form) 2019

    Attainment: A-level
    A* - A: 22%
    A* - B: 54%
    A* - E: 100%
    Attainment: Applied General (Applied General qualifications include BTECs and Diplomas)
    Distinction* - Distinction: 79%
    Distinction* - Merit: 99%
    Distinction* - Pass: 100%
    Retention (A measure of how many students successfully finish their course)
    A-Level retention: 99%
    Applied General retention: 98%

    Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. It reports directly to Parliament and is independent. Its purpose is to regulate and inspect services which care for children and young people. Ofsted generally inspects secondary schools every 5 years, although the frequency of inspections can increase under certain circumstances. Its latest report can be found here:
