Health and Social Care

Key Stage 4

Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 Tech Award in Health and Social Care

The Level 1/Level 2 Tech Award in Health and Social Care is a vocational qualification available to all students. The course is equivalent to one GCSE.

Students study how people grow and develop over the course of their lives, from infancy to old age. They examine the factors that may affect this such as major life changing events like marriage or parenthood. Students learn how people adapt to these changes as well as the types of support available to help them.

The course explores the different health and social care services. Students learn about the ‘care values’ that underpin health and social care practice and the importance of these in ensuring service users get the care they need. Students have the opportunity to demonstrate these care values practically.

Students will develop skills in interpreting data about an individual’s state of health in order to design a plan that will allow them to improve their health and wellbeing.
